Some important FAQs

How do I place an order?

Please email me with your requirements to receive a complete quotation (including postage). If your order will need to be completed within 4-5 weeks, I will ask for payment in full before beginning the work. If the deadline is further away, I will ask for a deposit of 50% once you have decided on what you’d like and then the balance will be due before I start making the order. As well as ensuring that I will be available to make your order, the deposit also covers the cost of materials that I order as soon as it is paid (to avoid the potential disappointment of any materials being out of stock when I come to make your order).

What if I place a deposit for more stationery than I end up needing (for example, if the final number of guests is less than I estimated)?

As soon as you place a deposit, I will order the materials needed to make your order (as my suppliers sometimes change their stock, this is important to guarantee the stationery looks just as you want). The initial 50% deposit is non-refundable, but if you reduce the number of pieces that I need to make, then the final amount you pay will be reduced. Because the materials have been ordered specifically for you, the cost for pieces you do not need can not be removed entirely, but you will only pay 30% of the cost of them.

For example, imagine that you place a 50% deposit for 200 place settings costing £1.00 each (a £100 deposit), but then only need 180 place settings. When you make the final payment before I begin making them, your final payment will be £86 rather than £100.

What happens if I don’t spot a mistake when I am proof-reading the sample you send?

Before printing any items (invitations, orders of service, menus etc) I send proofs for my clients to approve. Checking these for errors is entirely the responsibility of the client – I will simply have used the wording that you supplied to me, so it is very important that you check thoroughly before you approve them. If you’re not confident in your proof-reading, why not share it with a friend or someone in your family? The more eyes the better!

If you spot a mistake after you have approved the proof, please let me know as soon as possible. If I haven’t printed the materials, then there will be no cost for making the change. If the materials are printed, then making the change and re-printing will incur an extra charge (e.g. re-printing insert sheets for an order of service would cost 50p per sheet).

What information should I send along with my invitations? My customers have sent out a range of information in the past, from details of accommodation to gift list information. The pocketfold invitations are ideal for including any extra sheets of information that you need.

I’ve already sent out my invitations – can you make the rest of my wedding stationery? Yes, I can easily adapt the theme of your invitations to table plans, orders of service, place cards, guest books and more!

I’ve seen a handmade wedding invitation design I love – can you make it in another colour? Yes, just ask – all of my stationery can be made in different colours.

What size table plan should I choose? I make table plans to match all of the stationery ranging from A4 to A1. Because all the stationery is handmade to order, I can vary the number of people and tables that will fit on each plan.

Which to choose? Pocketfold or classic invitations? I now offer two ranges of handmade wedding invitations; pocketfolds and classic folded cards. I think the pocketfold invites are more of a modern touch – with the benefit of space for more inserts – while the classic wedding invitations are certainly more traditional. I’m able to include RSVP cards with either kind of invitation, and of course all the other stationery can follow the design – so your orders of service, menus and table plan can match the invitations.

‘Should I include gift list information with my invitations?’ It’s really up to you where you would like to include a mention of a gift list. I know some people don’t have them, but others think that they always appreciate recieving the information with invitations so they know what to do.

What colours to go for in stationery for 2012? I know that the ‘in’ colour seems to change every week, but there are some that are popular now for invitations and other handmade stationery that I’m making for 2012 weddings. Gold, cream, silver and pink are always popular colours for invitations, but I’m also seeing requests for brighter colours.
